Hello, my name is Bethany Perry and I am graduating in May with my Masters of Professional Studies with a concentration in HR. I received my undergraduate from Fort Hays State in 2011 with a degree in General Studies and a concentration in Business Communication. Once I graduate in May I plan to finish my Workforce Certificate through FHSU and then also get my Society of Human Resource Management certificate as well.
I have lived in Daphne AL for 6 years which is about 45 minutes from the Gulf of Mexico. I have been married for 14 years to my husband Jason and we have 4 beautiful children William 2.5, Jake 6, Eleanor 7 and Sadie 8. I own 2 AirBnb properties in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. I am currently a full time substitute for our county schools and I really love it. My husband and I also started a vending machine business last year and it has been lots of fun. Needless to say my husband and I stay pretty busy.
Daphne is located in Baldwin County which is one of the fastest growing counties in Alabama. We are right on Mobile Bay and this lends us the opportunity to have lots of industries here such as AirBus, Austal, Kimberly Clarke and Cruise lines. Alabama still has a long way to go culturally but I think with more industries bringing contracts and business to our area we will continue to grow and expand.
I had the opportunity between my junior and senior year of college to travel to Switzerland for 10 weeks. I was able to live with an international student I had met while going to Fort Hays. This was such an amazing opportunity to see a part of the world I wouldn't have had the opportunity to do without this connection. During this time I worked at her families restaurant and travelled. I spent 3 days in Berlin, Germany, one day in Milan, Italy and 3 days solo in Paris. Being able to navigate Paris by myself at such a young age traveling alone was so empowering. This was a time where I did not carry a cell phone everywhere (I didn't even bring one with me to Europe) so I had to rely on myself and my communication skills with a city of people where I didn't speak the same language. It was an incredibly empowering and educational experience I hope to give to my children one day.
